Winter Taste Washington Day 2017

Winter Taste Washington Day builds on the annual Autumn Taste Washington Day held in October, to hold a similar celebration of seasonal foods...but this time in mid-winter, showing that locally sourced lunches "can be done" during the winter months, even in Washington!  Visit these pages to download Taste Washington Day materials and adapt them for your Winter Taste Washington Day plans.

Winter Taste Washington Day participating schools:

February 1
Concrete School District
: Lunch featuring meatballs, golden potato wedges and roasted root vegetables; including local ground beef from Ovenell Ranch, potatoes, carrots, parsnips, kohlrabi, red and golden beets.  

February 3
Enumclaw School District: Lunch featuring winter root vegetables and dairy from Enumclaw farmers and apples from Cashmere, WA

March 1
Methow Valley School District teamed up with 4-H, local farmers and the Classroom in Bloom school garden program to serve Smallwood Farms apples, Bluebird Grains Farm scratch rolls, and stew with beef from a steer one 4-H student raised!

March 23
Monroe School District
: Student culinary competition featuring Washington grown and sourced products, guest chefs, farmer visits, and more!
